Fall Conference News
We have completed surveys of participants and planning team members and presented an executive summary to Bishop Mike and his cabinet.
As a result of this consultation, we plan to repeat this year’s Fall Conference format for 2012 in multiple regional locations, to be determined, followed by a single site conference in 2013.
In response to consistent requests for an earlier time, Fall Conference 2012 will take place the weekend of September 21st.

Catechist Certification Questions
|
|
During 2012, the Diocese of Boise will review its processes for initial certification of catechists and renewal of certification.
In the meantime, the present process and forms are located here. English / Spanish The forms for both basic and renewed certification are in the same document.
Please note that the signature of a principal or director of religious education is needed for both original and renewed certification.
Formation in all areas of catechesis is needed for basic and renewed certification. It is possible to take many Scripture or theology courses without deepening your knowledge of Jesus, of Church History, etc.
During the three year periods allowed for initial formation and renewals, there will be many opportunities to pursue formation in these different areas. Reading a book or watching a DVD and writing a reflection paper for your supervisor or discussing it with colleagues is also an option that contributes to renewal of your certification.
We continue to be grateful for your dedication to your students and to your efforts in deepening your own understanding and faith. Please call us if we can ever be of help. MSass@RCDB.org (208) 350-7541 MBenton@RCDB.org (208) 350-7540

| Plan: |
To provide, over three years, a comprehensive program for beginning and continuing catechists, principals and DRE’s. These classes qualify for certification or recertification in the Diocese of Boise. Each training covers 3 sections of Echoes of Faith (6 hours) or 6 hours of theology for recertification. For the remaining 4 hours for certification, catechists should submit lesson plans for two classes to be observed by a DRE, Principal, or other appropriate person, with a follow-up debriefing.
|
| Persons interested in obtaining a college degree or college credits should contact |
|
Deacon Richard Kulleck at the Diocesan Pastoral Center (208) 342-1311 or RKulleck@RCDB.org.
Track A is intended for those who have not done the Echoes of Faith program AND those who have not taught religion classes.
Track B is intended for those who have completed Echoes of Faith and taught at least one year.
Principals and DRE’s are encouraged to attend the Echoes of Faith track if they plan to train their own catechists. The process involves more than watching a video.
