Parish Life and Faith Formation
Fan into a flame the gifts God has given us . . . with a spirit of power and love.
2 Timothy 1:7
Mission Statement
We, the Department of Parish Life and Faith Formation, are called by Jesus Christ and the Bishop of Idaho to empower parish ministers, nurture ongoing formation and spiritual growth and foster collaboration of parishes and ministries across the diocese, in a spirit of hospitality, together in Christ, ministering for the kingdom of heaven. |

Who we were... |
|
Formerly known as Catholic Education Ministries, the diocesan catechetical office staffing consisted of the:
|
|
CEM Director
Superintendent of Schools
Coordinator of Adult Education
Coordinator of Youth Ministry
Coordinator of Children's and Family Ministry
Events Coordinator
Resource Center Manager
Administrative Assistant
|
Each “age-specific” coordinator was responsible for providing their services to the whole diocese.
In 2006, upon consultation and review of the structure and mission of CEM, Director, Sister Betty Schumacher, Chancellor, Sister Arlene Ellis with the CEM staff redesigned the department, renaming and creating a mission statement for the Department Parish Life and Faith Formation.

Who we are now... |
|
Our current staffing is:
We retain responsibility for religious education, sacramental preparation and parish contact by fostering ongoing formation and spiritual growth and empowering (and supporting) parish ministers.
Each Regional Coordinator is now responsible for two deaneries. In addition to their areas of expertise, each regional coordinator serves their region beyond direct services by fostering collaboration of parishes and ministries across the diocese.
Staff members are also involved in supporting the diocesan pastoral plan and deanery pastoral councils.
The Diocesan Resource Center is open to all adult Catholics within the Diocese of Boise.
PLFF is principally responsible for the annual Diocesan Fall Conference.
We support and cosponsor, with local leadership, youth events, ministry in-services, formation experiences and retreats. We offer a variety of training and retreats.
Your regional coordinator is your primary contact for questions and inquiries. Please get in touch with them first and we, as a staff, will determine who and how best to answer your requests.
Other diocesan departments we regularly consult or work with are Multicultural Ministries, Servant School and the Office of Worship. |
