On June 4-7th almost 150 clergy, religious, and lay leaders gathered in Boise for our annual diocesan Convocation. Convocation is an important opportunity for me to meet with pastoral leaders from across the state to address the ongoing needs of our diocese. It is a time, in other words, for us to look at “where we are” as a diocese … “where we should be” … and “how we plan to get there.”
For the past four years we have used Convocation as a time to discuss the four priority areas of our pastoral plan, All at the Table: Youth and Young Adults, building Christ-Centered Communities, Christian Discipleship, and Ordained and Consecrated Life.
Realizing that our work in these areas is nothing less than the ongoing work of the Church, we will be continuing our efforts in these areas for the next several years. A series of SMART goals have been created for each priority area to guide this work.
YouTube recordings of our various Convocation speakers and a chart outlining our specific SMART goals can be accessed below.
As we continue to implement our pastoral plan, I have no doubt that our diocese will continue to grow and thrive and be the Church of Idaho we are called to be! Please keep our pastoral planning efforts in your prayers as we continue to address the challenges and opportunities that face the Catholic Church in Idaho.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Michael P. Driscoll, M.S.W., D.D.
Bishop of Idaho
