A
Message
from
Bishop Driscoll
With the holy season of Christmas behind us, we now enter into what is known in the Church as “Ordinary Time.” Because the Christmas and Easter cycles are so rich with religious traditions, many tend to think that the remainder of the year often seems ordinary at first glance … thus the use of the term “Ordinary Time.” This title, however, does not mean that these weeks, and the Sundays around which they revolve, are unimportant. On the contrary, it is during these weeks that the special character of Sunday as the Lord’s Day is experienced and we celebrate the mystery of Christ in all its aspects. As Catholics, Ordinary Time is a time to remember and celebrate all the ways God is present and active in our lives, especially in our celebration of the Lord’s Day. May our eyes and hearts always be open to the “ordinary” and “extraordinary” ways God infuses our lives and our world with beauty, grace, and blessing.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Michael P. Driscoll, M.S.W., D.D.Bishop of Idaho
