This presentation defines Catholic School Teachers and catechists as having a mentality of abundance, demonstrating integrity, and being always open to the spirit.  It then takes a close look at Jesus’ style of teaching as it relates to today’s classrooms.

Sister Carol Cimino returns to Boise by popular demand. Although she travels the country giving talks and workshops, she is proudest of the fact that she is still the only religious woman to have been a 3-day champion on “Jeopardy”!

Discipleship Today: Journeying with Jesus to the Kingdom

Dr. Joy Milos

After looking at Jesus’ approach to discipleship, we will examine some later shifts and explore the implications for today’s adult believers.

Dr. Joy Milos, is a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondolet, and Professor of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University.  She teaches courses in Christian Spirituality and Comparative Christianity.  Special interests are Habitat for Humanity and exploring new places.

It is in the gift and rhythm of everyday life that the spirit of discipleship moves within us.  Keynote will reflect on this everyday where we best encounter and discern our journey of continued learning, evangelization and justice.

Maria G. Arroyo holds M.A.’s in Pastoral Care and Counseling and in Theological Studies. Having served as parish pastoral minister, youth/campus minister, community organizer and religion teacher, she currently works with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) raising awareness and engagement in global solidarity and the social teachings of the Church.

San Francisco y Santa Clara de Asis entendieron su relación con Dios a traves de su relacón con los demás. De la misma manera tambien nosotros podemos reconocer nuestros hogares como escuelas de discipulado y nuestra parroquia como instrumentos para la misión que Dios nos ha encomendado.

El Fraile Gilberto Cavazos, OFM  es el Director del Programa para el Ministerio Hispano de la Catholic Theological Union. Posee una rica experiencia ministerial con un interes particular por la relacion entre la Espiritualidad Cristiana, la Enseñanza Social de la Iglesia y la cultura desarrollada en la cotidianidad de la experiencia humana.

God’s mission of evangelization is brought down to earth in the form of Jesus. Sharing in his work requires our lifelong willingness to listen, to be taught and to discover the cost, to think from God’s perspective, rather than a human one. 

Professor of mission and culture at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, author, missionary, hospital chaplain and companion of the homeless, Fr. Gittins brings lessons from cultural anthropology and theology together.

Es en el don y ritmo de nuestra vida del día al día donde se mueve el espíritu de nuestro discipulado.  Esta presentación refleccionará en lo cotidiano como la actividad donde mejor encontramos y discernimos nuestra jornada de contínuo aprendizaje, evangelización y justicia, cultivando y encarnando nuestro ser como discípulos de Cristo.

Maria G. Arroyo tiene Maestrias en Cuidado Pastoral y Consejeria y en Estudios Teológicos. Ha servido en el ministerio parroquial, pastoral juvenil, y maestra de religión. Actualmente trabaja con Catholic Relief Services (CRS) concientizando sobre la solidaridad global y la enseñanza social de la Iglesia.
