Idaho Catholic Appeal

Our diocese is blessed with people who represent many different cultural, racial, ethnic heritages, and very diverse language and socio-economic groups. With this blessing comes a challenge to discover, develop and use all the gifts and talents entrusted by God to our care. We also rejoice in the rich diversity that is a blessing to our diocese. It is a visible sign reminding us that in building the Body of Christ in Idaho everyone has a place at the table.

Because of your support the Idaho Catholic Appeal reached an all time high last year. Your gift to the 2008 Idaho Catholic Appeal helps build the Body of Christ in Idaho in so many ways.

  • It helps educate and support the 30 seminarians that are currently studying for the priesthood.

  • It helps fund the formation for Deacon candidates and their wives and aids with Lay Ministry formation within the diocese.

  • The Appeal helps educate our youth and adults in our faith through our Parish Life and Faith Formation department.

  • It supports the leadership training of a growing number of Hispanic youth and young adults.

  • It helps with the special medical needs of our seriously ill priests.

  • It provides essential social services for young families, the elderly, the poor and at-risk youth through Catholic Charities of Idaho.

  • It helps immigrant families move forward toward full citizenship.

  • It funds our college campus ministry centers. It helps our retired priests who have given a lifetime of service to our parishes and our communities.

  • It brings the love of Christ to thousands of inmates through the work of our prison ministry.

  • Your gifts to the Idaho Catholic Appeal have helped the ministries of the Diocese reach new heights. Last year, Idaho ministries and parishes received 98 percent of the $2.4 million raised through the appeal. The other 2 percent went to support important parts of our national and worldwide church.

This year, we come together at Jesus’ table as the Body of Christ, to be fed and to feed others with our faith and with our gifts. As in the past, Bishop Driscoll asks that you spend time in prayer and discussion on how you and your family can support this year’s appeal. Many, many lives are changed because you care enough to give sacrificially.
