POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the school principal is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Boise in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. The Assistant Principal performs the role of the Principal in the absence of the Principal and performs administrative duties assigned by the Principal.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

CONTRACT DAYS: 205 (one week after school ends and one week before school resumes)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of a school principal include a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities. As such, the primary responsibility of the Assistant Principal is to assist the school Principal in areas of his/her job description that the Principal delegates. These may vary based on the individual strengths and experience of both the Principal and the Assistant Principal and should play to the strengths and experience of each. The Assistant Principal should be prepared to work outside of normal school operational hours as needed for special events, facility needs, and urgent issues that may arise.

Recognize and support the Catholic Mission of the School by speaking, acting, and instruction consistent with the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. The assistant principal may not espouse any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey; strive to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
Help build the School’s faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate in, and help plan, School religious, service activities and retreats
Should be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
Be a strong spokesperson for the school and for Catholic education in the community

Shared Leadership
Serve as principal in the event that the principal is absent
Attend all board meetings
Presence at community events and fundraisers
Serve as administrator at designated after school, evening and community events
Assist with decision-making as needed
Assist with staff development days and staff meetings
Assist with school long-term planning, accreditation and goal setting
Assist, advise and evaluate certified staff as needed
Assist with evaluation of classified staff

Student Behavioral Growth
Enact the school’s behavioral growth/discipline policies and procedures including handling daily student discipline
Facilitate SEL program
Facilitate behavior meetings
Communicate with parents and teachers in regards to student discipline
Track and manage student behaviors
Track and manage student attendance and grades in middle school
Manage after school detention

Operations
Create and manage duty schedules
Monitor school security system
Be available for after hours security concerns
Assist with emergency drills, safety protocols, and teacher/student training

Portals/Rediker
Create and import master schedule
Manage student schedule changes
Manage Parent/Guardian use
Provide gradebook support for teachers
Work with online forms
Pull and post report cards and progress reports
Management of database / records

Testing
Conduct data management of testing softwares
Create testing schedules and testing session set-up
Provide support for staff and students

Facility
Supervise facility manager & custodial staff
Coordinate school board facility committees and provide monthly updates to board
Inventory of furniture and other assets
Managing Keys
Overseeing purchased items through school

Technology
Manage Inventory of technology
Monitor student usage including management of safety monitoring software
Collaborate with contracted IT staff
Provide teacher & student support with technology

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
Master’s Degree and Certified by the State of Idaho as an Administrator

Other-Preferred Skills:
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
