Music Coordinator Job Description
St. Paul’s Catholic Center is searching for an energetic and detail-oriented music coordinator to join our mission. The music coordinator’s responsibilities include holding rehearsals, selecting music, and leading the music on Sundays when needed. You should also be able to work with college students with various musical backgrounds and help them grow as musicians.
To be successful as a music coordinator, you should understand the skills, strengths, and weaknesses of the musicians in your charge. Outstanding candidates demonstrate strong creative intelligence, are able to work within budgetary constraints, and build professional/mentorship relationships with group members.
Music Coordinator Responsibilities:
Plan music for Sunday and special liturgies with the Chaplain.
Recruit and train student musicians, helping students where they are and helping them become the best they can be.
Create an environment where the music is student led.
Understand and maintain all equipment, including but not limited to sound board, musical instruments, and microphones.
Time expectation (approximately 10 hours per week):
Sundays 4 hours (10am-12pm & 6:30-8:30)
Weekly Rehearsal (2 hours)
Planning & Scheduling Music (1 hour)
1:1 Mentorship (up to 3 hours per week)
Special Liturgies
Music Coordinator Requirements:
Excellent knowledge of music techniques, theory, and performance.
Great organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Strong leadership, time management, and multitasking abilities.
Ability to give clear instructions and make decisions under pressure.
Proficient in playing piano or guitar and singing. (Piano preferred)
Ability to mentor students
