ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Under the Pastor’s / Business Administrator’s  direction, develop and coordinate programs to integrate adolescent catechesis into a comprehensive ministry to, with, by and for young people

Serve as a resource person to ministries involving youth and young adults and as a liaison between them and the parish staff, Development and Finance Council (DFC) and other committees

Assess the faith formation needs of youth and young adults in the parish and provide reports to the Pastor / Business Administrator. Utilize the data for design and development of programs

Advocate for youth and young adult faith formation in the parish through communication strategies and other means

Work with the Office of Child, Youth and Adult Protection to ensure that all adults working with minors are in compliance with the CYAP Safe Environment policies

Coordinate the recruitment, training, supporting, and evaluating of volunteers in the youth and young adult ministry program

Work with the Office of Catechesis and Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise (RCDB) to develop a systematic and intentional plan for adolescent catechesis that utilizes a creative variety of formats, settings, and timeframes

Provide resources (print, video, archdiocesan events) for effective programming

Provide appropriate training for the adults and young people in leadership positions

Work closely with the Pastor / Business Administrator, Diocesan staff and Parish staff to coordinate the Confirmation program

Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish, including serving on various parish committees and being involved in parish activities

Coordinate the outreach to and evangelization of all young people in the parish

Provide appropriate services and programs for parents of adolescents

Serve as the liaison with the diocesan office of youth ministry and their programs, services and resources

Build and maintain good relationships with church personnel in the parish, including employees, volunteers in ministry, etc.

Develop, schedule and/or facilitate courses and retreats

Work with Pastor / Business Administrator to develop effective marketing campaigns for workshops, retreats, classes and other offerings. Write press releases, event postings and other materials for information in media and intranet, updating periodically and according to need

Track parish and participation in programs and work with Pastor to develop mechanism for receiving feedback on program effectiveness

Take responsibility for self-development and continuing education in areas pertinent to the mission of the Parish

Work with parish for setup and preparation of rooms for events, including compiling materials for distribution and cleaning/sanitation arrangements

Demonstrate characteristics and qualities desired of a Roman Catholic lay leader, including excellent character, integrity and support of the teachings and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Boise. Demonstrate fidelity and support of Church leadership

Assist with parish responsibilities as assigned with confidentiality and discretion, demonstrating excellent internal and external customer service

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Minimum:  High School Diploma nd 5 years of experience in Religious Education

Preferred: Bachelors degree in Theology, Religious Education or related field; and three (3) years’ experience working either as an employee or volunteer  in a parish.

Language Skills

Good oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice

Native-level mastery of oral and written Spanish-language
