Fourth Grade Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:
The Fourth Grade teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School will help to create a Fourth Grade learning environment that fosters curiosity and a love of learning in a faith-centered classroom. Through the implementation of the school’s Fourth Grade curriculum, the Fourth Grade teacher will support the growth of each child in their spiritual, emotional, physical, psychological, cognitive, and social development. This is accomplished through managing and coordinating age-appropriate daily activities, preparing meaningful lesson plans with relevant educational activities, providing clear and consistent feedback to students and families, ensuring a safe environment for children, and facilitating the growth of all students in a loving and positive classroom environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the mission and philosophy of St. Mary’s Catholic School through speaking, acting, and instructing in a manner consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
Supports the academic design of the school with its strong emphasis on high personalization and care for every student
Adheres to the Code of Conduct and to the policies and procedures of the school and the Catholic Diocese of Boise
Desires to grow in personal faith, and strives to model the teachings of Jesus in attitude and example
Assists and participates in school faith activities such as Mass, prayer, retreats, and service projects
Maintains professional, cooperative, and friendly relationships with students, parents, visitors, and all staff
Develops lesson plans, educational themes, and related materials and activities within curriculum guidelines
Prepares, modifies, and adapts educational materials and presentations used in the classroom
Demonstrates effective planning and time management skills
Maintains professional confidentiality at all times
Assists in shared student supervision duties such as recess, lunch, drop-off, and/or pick-up when assigned
Communicates professionally and frequently with parents through student grade reporting, newsletters, conferences, etc.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, teacher collaboration times, and both internal and outside professional development as requested
Cultivates a classroom environment where students feel welcome, loved, supported, and safe
Maintains a high-functioning classroom environment through effective management and clear student expectations
Open to learning new forms of educational practices and applying them in the classroom setting
Develops and consistently utilizes meaningful methods of student evaluation and provides clear and consistent feedback to students, parents, fellow teachers, and school administration
Collaborates with peers to plan and enhance instruction, assessment, curriculum development, and school improvement plans
Works with teachers and administration on school self-study and long-range planning processes
Performs other duties as necessary to the position or as specified by the Principal

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or related field
Current Idaho teaching certificate in Elementary Education or an equivalent teaching certificate from another state
Experience teaching in a Catholic School, especially in the Elementary grades (Preferred)
Willingness to adapt teaching style to new forms of instruction
Ability to utilize modern educational technology
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
Practicing Catholic or willing to uphold the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church

Determined by experience and qualifications
