St. Mark’s serves pre-school – 8th grade during the academic school year.
Primary Function:
• Under the direction of the school principal is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Boise in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the principal, to assist and enable teaching staff and students to effectively use the instructional materials in the media center, and to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to take full advantage of library materials and resources
The librarian will also create an enriching library/media center environment with a wide range of reading and other educational materials; maintains library collection at the school site; develops appropriate programs for students utilizing library resources, and instructs students and others on the proper use of the library resources
The position will also require assisting students and staff with tech support and software logins, rostering students for standardized testing, and managing the Accelerated Reading Program.
Establish goals for the library program on a yearly basis via consultation with the principal and staff
Implementation of software for cataloging, circulation, inventory, and system administration
Selection of a broad range of materials that supplement identified collection development goals, curricular goals, and are developmentally appropriate to the student population within the building
Responsible for ordering all print, non-print, audio-visual, computer, and audio-visual materials, and supplies
Assist students and teachers in material selection
Catalog and process new materials so that they are shelf-ready in a timely fashion
Process overdue notices and distribute them on a biweekly basis
Read shelves continuously to be sure materials are in reasonable order
Repair damaged materials
Perform yearly inventory and reconciliation
Track missing materials
Performs such school-related duties as assigned by supervisor
Basic Qualifications
Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player
Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in the use of computer technology
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapt appropriately in a school environment
Ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check
Clean and neat personal appearance
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred
Other/Preferred Skills:
Strong understanding of basic technology
