Brother Jonathan, VS, was appointed to the ministry of Acolyte by Bishop Peter Christensen during a recent liturgy at the Monastery of Our Lady of Ephesus in Boise.
The order of Acolyte is the final step before his ordination to the diaconate and then, ultimately, to priesthood.
Brother Jonathan is returning to Luxembourg to finish his studies in theology and then hopes to return to Boise for his ordination as a deacon. Brother Jonathan is part of the Verbum Spei Fraternity, which has established a community in Boise at the former Nazareth Retreat Center.
As an Acolyte, Brother Jonathan, VS, is to assist in liturgical celebrations, especially Mass, and can instruct the faithful in liturgical celebrations. (ICR photo/Vero Gutiérrez)
