After months of planning, registration for events throughout the Diocese is now available! There is a listing of all the events, locations, and times for gatherings from Fruitland to Preston and everywhere in between!
There will be opportunities for processions, times for Adoration, Mass and socials. In addition, there are opportunities for neighboring parishes in the West Central, Southern and Eastern deaneries to join together in worship at the “Gathering of
Altars.”

All members of the public who join segments of the NEP are responsible for their own transportation, food and lodging. Please note that due to safety and the distance that the pilgrims have to cover in a short amount of time, they aren't walking the whole way and some segments, walking and driving, are not open to the public.

St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the small town of Preston will be the final stop of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage in Idaho. Located on the Idaho-Utah border, St. Peter’s is small in numbers but has a faith and love for the Eucharist as big as Idaho itself.
On the morning of Friday, May 31, everyone who would like to take part in the Eucharistic Procession is invited to gather at 10:15 a.m. in the Preston Community Park, located at 2-98, East Oneida Street (corner of East Oneida and South 1st Streets). The procession will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will wind through the residential streets of Preston before finishing at the steps of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, located at 302 East Oneida Street, where Mass will be concelebrated at 11:30 a.m. by Bishop Peter F. Christensen of the Diocese of Boise and Bishop Oscar A. Solis from the Diocese of Salt Lake City.
After Mass, there will be a short time for Adoration. Bishop Peter and Bishop Oscar will then offer a solemn blessing, followed by the transfer of the Holy Eucharist. Bishop Oscar will depart, and the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will journey to Utah. At the same time, the celebration at St. Peter’s will continue with lunch and a time for everyone to share their stories.
St. Peter’s is part of Good Shepherd Catholic Community, a parish of five churches: Lava Hot Springs, Soda Springs, Montpelier, Preston and Malad. While the five are joined together with
a common faith, each one has its own history, personality, and culture. They are blessed to be guided by the wisdom of a wonderful shepherd, Father Anthony Nnodim, who came to Idaho only a couple of years ago from Nigeria. Living in southeast Idaho has been quite an experience, and he is still trying to figure out where all the snow is coming from. Father Nnodim is assisted by three Deacons: Art Martinez in Malad and Lava Hot Springs, Tilio Perez in Preston and Dave McCarthy in Soda Springs and Montpelier.
When asked for his thoughts, Father Anthony borrowed one of his favorite quotes from Matthew Kelly, “Encountering Jesus in the Eucharist should be like touching Heaven, and that should change the way we live here on earth.” He believes that this National event will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and will undoubtedly strengthen the bond that we all share and bring us closer, not only with Christ but with one another.
St. Peter’s in Preston is primarily a Hispanic community with a reputation for lively liturgies, amazing music, and a sense of community typical of our Diocese. Before Mass begins, you will find rosaries being prayed, musicians rehearsing, and classes for children downstairs, where they learn about their faith and how to live it in today’s challenging world.
Sundays at St. Peter’s are a time for families to share their lives, their faith, and their food and to celebrate the One who draws us all to Himself in the Eucharist. It seems appropriate that the final stop of the pilgrimage in Idaho would be a rural church that characterizes the small-town family values and great faith shared across our wonderful state. You might say that it’s not the size of our towns that matters, but the size of our hearts, the love we share, and the faith we live.
The people of Good Shepherd Catholic Community are excited, honored, and humbled to be a part of this great event. Having the honor and privilege of walking beside Him will remind us that Jesus continues to walk alongside us every day.
St. Peter’s in Preston will be the last Idaho stop on this national pilgrimage. It will allow us to follow the Virgin Mother’s example of pondering in our hearts the mystery of Christ present to us. The pilgrimage will enable us to renew our trust in Jesus’ promise that He will always be with us (Mt 28:20) and to encounter that promise in the Eucharist.

Saint Peter en Preston es principalmente una comunidad hispana con una reputación de liturgias animadas, música increíble y un sentido de comunidad típico de nuestra Diócesis. Antes de que comience la Misa, encontrará que han rezado el Rosario, músicos ensayando, y clases para niños en la planta baja, donde aprenden sobre su fe y cómo vivirla en el desafiante mundo actual.
Los domingos en Saint Peter son un momento para que las familias compartan sus vidas, su fe y su comida, y para celebrar a Aquel que nos atrae a todos hacia Sí en la Eucaristía. Peter’s en Preston será la última parada de Idaho en esta peregrinación nacional. Nos permitirá seguir el ejemplo de la Virgen Madre de meditar en nuestros corazones el misterio de Cristo presente entre nosotros. La peregrinación nos permitirá renovar nuestra confianza en la promesa de Jesús de que siempre estará con nosotros (Mt 28,20) y encontrarnos con esa promesa en la Eucaristía.
