Seven determined men rode 1,000 miles on the first day of the annual Catholic Men’s Motorcycle Ride that took place in August. The itinerary for this “saddle-sore-challenge” took the riders through Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and back into Idaho, ending in Twin Falls. Father Matthew Nicks, the group’s motorcycle-riding chaplain, led the group on their journey.

A new rider from Holy Apostles parish in Meridian joined the group on day two, meeting for a separate morning Mass at St. Edward’s Catholic Church celebrated by Father Nicks. After Mass, Father Julio Vicente and Father Pawel Pawliszko met with the group and wished the men safe travels.

The group then rode north through Sun Valley with stops in Stanley to view the Sawtooth Range, Challis’ Lost River Range and a final stop for the night in Salmon. The next morning, the men attended Mass at St. Charles Catholic Church in Salmon, concelebrated by Father Mosier and Father Nicks. The parishioners were very warm and welcoming to the bikers, or “Motorcycle Gang” as Father Mosier introduced them at the beginning of Mass.

Over the course of the next three days, the group toured less-traveled roads enjoying numerous mountain ranges. The Catholic Men’s Motorcycle Ride “was a great opportunity for the men to bond in faith and enjoy a relaxing time together.” said David Streeter, one of the riders.

Next year’s Catholic Men’s Motorcycle Ride is scheduled to explore Colorado from August 18-24, 2024. “Idaho riders are invited and welcome!” said Streeter. Email catholicmenmotorcycling@outlook.com for more information.
